Portland's Sleeping Pods

February 13, 2017

In 2016, fourteen teams were sponsored by Portland through The POD Initiative to create sleeping pods for the homeless.

The pods were built and admired, but now they're standing empty. People involved in the project would like to see these pods put to good use.

The empty lot across from Kenton Park has been selected as an ideal site for the pods to launch a one year pilot program to establish a community of all women that would be operated in collaboration between Catholic Charities and the Joint Office of Homeless Services.

The neighborhood will vote on whether to proceed with the project on March 8. Learn more about it here.
