Knight Cancer Research Building Awarded LEED Platinum

May 16, 2019

The Oregon Health & Science University Knight Cancer Research Building has achieved LEED Platinum status by the U.S. Green Building Council, the leading program and rating system for green buildings and communities. Platinum certification is the highest rating a LEED building can achieve.

Completed in September 2018, the sustainable design of the Knight Cancer Research Building was inspired by the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute’s mission of advancing team science to cure cancer. It stands as a beacon of sustainability on Portland’s South Waterfront, featuring non-toxic Red List-free materials, 38% greater energy efficiency and 68% reduced water use over standard lab buildings. The project meets the Architecture 2030 Challenge and provides a healthy, collaborative work environment for researchers dedicated to ending cancer.
